OUR CORE VALUES

When students begin their Revolution journey, they can expect to learn great martial arts in addition to our Life Skills:

These life skills are at the core of our organization’s values, influencing our every decision and the foundation of all that we teach. As a result, our employees work tirelessly to demonstrate, develop and mentor our students on how to integrate them into their own lives. This is why all of our employees began as our students, who ascended the belt ranks and joined our leadership program. Now, they’re dedicating their time to giving new generations the same life-changing experiences that they have benefited from.

While we understand perfection is impossible, we’ll never stop striving for it for the sake of those we serve. Thank you, and we look forward to meeting you at Revolution!

Scot Schwichow

Founder of Revolution Modern MA

Scot Schwichow is the founder and owner of Revolution Modern Martial Arts. In 2009 he left his career in corporate America to pursue his dream of owning his own martial arts dojo because he knows firsthand the positive impact that a quality martial arts program can have on a person’s life.

By the time he was 13 years old, his confidence was so low that he was one of those “At-risk” kids that you hear about. Undersized for his age and being bullied every day, his grades were slipping and he rode the bench on any sports team that he tried out for. No matter what he did, he felt that he just couldn’t do well. Thankfully his parents enrolled him in a karate program so that he could find the self discipline needed to excel at home, school and in life.

The goal setting and personal achievement in karate helped him build his self-esteem to where he could stand up to the bullies and it inspired him to do his best, not just in the martial arts but at school as well. He turned his grades around and that allowed him to get accepted and graduate from the University of Delaware.

“To me, helping our students build their self-esteem is the most important and rewarding part of what we do at Revolution. Other qualities like focus, discipline, and respect all begin to improve when we build a student’s confidence. And as a parent myself, I love seeing the happy look on a mom or dad’s face when they see their child in class doing their best and becoming stronger physically, emotionally, and mentally.” Scot Schwichow

In addition to being a full-time martial artist and business owner, Scot is also a devoted husband and father. In his spare time, he enjoys reading or spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.

For years he has served in a mentorship role at Revolution and feels that this is one of the most rewarding parts of working in the martial arts industry. He found that helping people achieve things they never thought possible while also building their confidence to work through some of their most challenging personal issues is what makes martial arts an amazing lifestyle.

While all 6 of our life skills are extremely important; When asked what is the most important thing we teach at Revolution Modern Martial Arts Andy says “It is my belief that Self-Esteem is the most important. With a strong sense of confidence, all things are possible.”

“If you’re worried that you might not be fast enough, strong enough, flexible enough or skilled enough to start martial arts; you are wrong. Martial Arts is for everyone. Anyone who has achieved any level of success in Martial Arts has started where you are right now. It is one of the few things in the world where you get to strengthen your mind, body, and spirit together.
