Scot Schwichow

Founder of Revolution Modern MA

Scot Schwichow is the founder and owner of Revolution Modern Martial Arts. In 2009 he left his career in corporate America to pursue his dream of owning his own martial arts dojo because he knows firsthand the positive impact that a quality martial arts program can have on a person’s life.

By the time he was 13 years old, his confidence was so low that he was one of those “At-risk” kids that you hear about. Undersized for his age and being bullied every day, his grades were slipping and he rode the bench on any sports team that he tried out for. No matter what he did, he felt that he just couldn’t do well. Thankfully his parents enrolled him in a karate program so that he could find the self discipline needed to excel at home, school and in life.

The goal setting and personal achievement in karate helped him build his self-esteem to where he could stand up to the bullies and it inspired him to do his best, not just in the martial arts but at school as well. He turned his grades around and that allowed him to get accepted and graduate from the University of Delaware.

“To me, helping our students build their self-esteem is the most important and rewarding part of what we do at Revolution. Other qualities like focus, discipline, and respect all begin to improve when we build a student’s confidence. And as a parent myself, I love seeing the happy look on a mom or dad’s face when they see their child in class doing their best and becoming stronger physically, emotionally, and mentally.” Scot Schwichow

In addition to being a full-time martial artist and business owner, Scot is also a devoted husband and father. In his spare time, he enjoys reading or spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.

Ty Myatt

Chief Instructor

Ty first began his martial arts journey at the age of 6 with a traditional karate program. As a young teenager, enamored with the burgeoning sport of MMA he joined Revolution Modern Martial Arts to learn Kickboxing and grappling and martial arts has been a huge part of his life ever since.

He credits martial arts for contributing greatly to the person he is today and he loves the fact that he gets to share these principles with the next generation of students. It is his sincere hope that martial arts will have the same positive impact on his students as it did on him.

Aside from martial arts, Ty is also a professional actor and has been performing in film and musical theatre since the age of 7. This set of skills helps him bring a higher level of performance to his classes at Revolution!

When asked what he likes to do for fun Ty says “ I’m a huge nerd when it comes to things like anime, video games, cartoons, and most things in the entertainment genre. That’s always an easy way to strike up a conversation with me!”

Andy Borland

Program Director

Andy Began his martial arts training in 2013 at Revolution in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He began focusing on karate training shortly after to stay in shape while also building his discipline and confidence. What started off as something fun to do quickly turned into a lifelong passion.

For years he has served in a mentorship role at Revolution and feels that this is one of the most rewarding parts of working in the martial arts industry. He found that helping people achieve things they never thought possible while also building their confidence to work through some of their most challenging personal issues is what makes martial arts an amazing lifestyle.

While all 6 of our life skills are extremely important; When asked what is the most important thing we teach at Revolution Modern Martial Arts Andy says “It is my belief that Self-Esteem is the most important. With a strong sense of confidence, all things are possible.”

Aside from training martial arts every day, Andy also enjoys BMX, mountain biking, and Magic the Gathering.

“If you’re worried that you might not be fast enough, strong enough, flexible enough or skilled enough to start martial arts; you are wrong. Martial Arts is for everyone. Anyone who has achieved any level of success in Martial Arts has started where you are right now. It is one of the few things in the world where you get to strengthen your mind, body, and spirit together. Martial arts is unique in the way that you get to share it with an amazing, supportive community while focusing on your own goals and personal development.” Andy Borland

Jeremy Brannan

Drill Specialist Instructor

Jeremy has been training in martial arts since he was just 6 years old, accumulating 9-10 years of experience in the field. He started his training, at Revolution, due to his parents’ belief that a good martial arts program would help him in the long run.

Currently holding a 2nd degree black belt at Revolution and practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jeremy has a wealth of experience under his belt. One of his favorite things about working with kids in martial arts is seeing them grow and progress through the ranks.

For Jeremy, respect is a critical component of any martial arts program. Basic respect is the foundation of good communication and interaction with fellow students and instructors. He believes that if you don’t respect the person you are learning from, you won’t enjoy the learning process.

She has been a dedicated student ever since.

Over the years, Kira has trained in various classes at Revolution Modern Martial Arts and has participated in multiple competitions, including kata, sparring, and a NAGA Grappling tournament.
